Message from Pope Francis regarding World Day of Peace, 1st January 2014.

HOLY YEAR 0F MERCY will begin on December 8

Pope Francis has declared an Extraordinary Jubilee year for the Church, calling it a 'Holy Year of Mercy.
The year will begin on Dec. 8, 2015, the 50th anniversary of the end of the Second Vatican Council, and conclude on November 20th, 2016, the Feast of Christ the King.

The Pope told the faithful at St Peter’s Basilica: “Dear brothers and sisters, I have thought about how, the Church can make clear its mission of being a witness of mercy. For this reason, I have decided to declare an Extraordinary Jubilee that has the mercy of God at its centre. It will
be a Holy Year of Mercy.”

“l am convinced that the whole Church will be able to find in this jubilee the joy of rediscovering and making fruitful the mercy of God, with which we are all called to give consolation to every man and every woman of our time," Francis added, "entrusting the Holy Year to Mary, Mother of Mercy.”

1. The parish will begin a study on the Bull of Indiction of the Jubilee Year of Mercy (Misericordiae Vultus) on Tuesday, Nov. 10th (Public Holiday) at 9.00am - l.00pm at old St. Clare's room. Donation: RM 5 (for the pews)
Booklet is on sale at the right wing at RM2 each.

2. The parish will launch the Jubilee Year of Mercy on Tues, 8th Dec. (Solemnity of Immaculate Conception). It will be a multilingual Mass.

3. The parish is organising a retreat for Jubilee Year of Mercy and will focus on the theme of conversion. (28 & 29 Nov.)

4. The parish will begin an in-depth study on the Gospel of Luke also known as the "The Evangelist of Mercy' in 2016. Don't miss it.

5. The parish will initiate “24 hours for the Eucharistic Lord” from Friday, 4th March 2016 at 8.00am till Saturday, 5th March 2016 at 8.00am. Confessions will be heard.

6. The parish will organise a pilgrimage to Rome visiting the Holy Doors of Rome. The practice of pilgrimage is important “because it represents the journey each of us makes in this life.” A local pilgrimage will also be organised visiting the designated parishes (Sacred Heart Kampar, St Anne Penang & Divine Mercy Penang). These parishes have been designated 'Pilgrim Parishes' by the Bishop of Penang during the Hoy Year of Mercy.

7. The parish will aggressively carry out the corporal and spiritual works of Mercy. Every parishioner must be involved. In doing so, we will become more and more convinced that in each of the little ones, Christ himself is present. (MV 15) Misericordiae Vultus.
